Key Benefits of Ricovir Em This capsule belongs to a group of antiretroviral medicines that help in treating HIV infection. Beyond this, here is a list of all the advantages of the medication: By taking the Ricovir Em capsule, one can reduce the chance of developing Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and other HIV-related illnesses Ricovir Em tablets block the action of certain enzymes (nucleotide and nucleoside reverse transcriptase enzymes) that the virus needs for reproducti

Benefits

Ricovir EM offers several benefits in the management and prevention of HIV infection:

  • Helps reduce the viral load in individuals living with HIV

  • Slows the progression of the disease and lowers the risk of developing Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)

  • Strengthens and protects the immune system

  • Helps prevent HIV transmission when used correctly as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)

  • Blocks viral replication by inhibiting key enzymes required by the virus

When used alongside safe sexual practices and medical supervision, Ricovir EM can significantly reduce the risk of acquiring or spreading HIV.

Indications and Usage

Ricovir EM Tablets are prescription antiretroviral medicines used for the treatment and prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. The medicine is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd and contains a fixed-dose combination of two antiviral agents:

  • Emtricitabine

  • Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate

Ricovir EM is commonly prescribed for:

  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in combination with other antiretroviral medicines

  • Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) to reduce the risk of HIV infection in individuals at high risk

  • Helping control viral replication and supporting immune system function

This medication does not cure HIV infection but helps control the virus and reduce complications related to the disease.

How it Works

Ricovir EM contains two antiretroviral drugs — Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate — which belong to a class of medicines known as nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs).

These medicines work by:

  • Blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme required for HIV replication

  • Preventing the virus from multiplying in the bloodstream

  • Reducing the amount of HIV present in the body

  • Protecting the immune system from damage

Although Ricovir EM helps control HIV infection, it does not eliminate the virus from the body and does not prevent other sexually transmitted infections.

Ricovir EM should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider.

Clinical Trial & Approvals

  • The therapy is generally well tolerated when used under medical supervision

This drug combination has received regulatory approval for HIV treatment and prevention in multiple countries based on extensive clinical evidence.
