Indications and Usage

How it Works

Bevacizumab targets VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor), a protein responsible for forming new blood vessels. By blocking VEGF, it restricts blood supply to tumors, slowing their growth and survival.

Dosage & Administration

  • Dose is based on body weight and cancer type

  • Given as an intravenous infusion in a hospital or infusion center

  • Typically administered every 2–3 weeks

  • Requires monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function & treatment response

  • Not for self-administration

Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • High blood pressure

  • Fatigue or weakness

  • Headache

  • Nosebleeds

  • Diarrhea or constipation

  • Protein in urine

Serious side effects (seek urgent care):

  • Severe bleeding

  • Blood clots

  • Gastrointestinal perforation

  • Poor wound healing

  • Heart or kidney problems

  • Severe hypertension

Warning and Precaution

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • Avoid treatment before or soon after major surgery

  • Monitor for hypertension, bleeding, and kidney issues

  • Inform doctor about blood thinners or cardiovascular disorders

  • Report severe stomach pain, chest pain, breathing issues, or unusual bleeding immediately
