Description

CA ATRA 10 Softgel Capsule contains Tretinoin 10 mg (All-trans Retinoic Acid), a prescription medicine primarily used in the treatment of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL), a rare subtype of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Unlike conventional chemotherapy, tretinoin helps abnormal immature blood cells develop into healthy mature cells, making it an important component of APL treatment protocols.

CA ATRA 10 is generally prescribed in combination with other anti-cancer medicines under the supervision of an experienced oncologist or hematologist. Treatment plans, dosage, and duration vary depending on the patient's medical condition, response to therapy, and treatment phase.

This medicine should only be taken exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Regular blood tests and medical monitoring are essential throughout treatment to assess response and manage potential side effects.

At Medsmonk, we help patients and caregivers access genuine specialty medicines sourced from trusted manufacturers. Our team also assists with prescription verification, international medicine procurement, and doorstep delivery in eligible countries.

Benefits

• Targets the underlying molecular abnormality causing Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia.
• Promotes differentiation of immature leukemia cells into normal blood cells.
• Helps achieve complete remission in many patients.
• Improves long-term survival when used in combination therapy.
• Oral softgel formulation provides convenient administration.
• Internationally recognized standard treatment for Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia.

Indications and Usage

CA Atra 10 mg Softgel Capsule is indicated for the treatment of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL). It is used for newly diagnosed and relapsed APL patients as part of induction and consolidation therapy. The medicine is commonly prescribed in combination with arsenic trioxide or chemotherapy according to established treatment protocols. Therapy should only be initiated and supervised by physicians experienced in the management of leukemia.

How it Works

CA Atra contains Tretinoin (All-trans Retinoic Acid), which binds to retinoic acid receptors inside leukemia cells. In Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, the PML-RARA fusion protein blocks normal blood cell maturation. Tretinoin reverses this block, allowing immature leukemia cells to mature into healthy white blood cells that eventually undergo natural cell death. Unlike traditional chemotherapy, it restores normal cell differentiation rather than directly destroying rapidly dividing cells.

Dosage & Administration

Take CA Atra 10 mg Softgel Capsule exactly as prescribed by your oncologist or hematologist. Dosage is generally calculated according to the patient’s body surface area (BSA). Swallow the capsules whole with water without crushing or chewing. Continue treatment for the duration recommended by your healthcare provider. Regular blood tests and clinical monitoring are required throughout therapy.

Side Effects

Common side effects include headache, fever, dry skin, dry lips, nausea, vomiting, bone pain, muscle pain, fatigue, elevated liver enzymes, and temporary changes in blood counts.

Serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention include Differentiation Syndrome, breathing difficulty, chest pain, rapid weight gain, severe swelling, increased intracranial pressure, and severe infections.

Warning and Precaution

CA Atra should only be used under specialist medical supervision. Patients should be closely monitored for Differentiation Syndrome, liver function abnormalities, and changes in blood counts. Pregnancy must be avoided during treatment because Tretinoin may cause severe birth defects. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking before starting treatment. Avoid taking vitamin A supplements unless specifically advised by your physician.

Patient Guidance

Take CA Atra exactly as prescribed and do not stop treatment without consulting your healthcare provider. Attend all scheduled follow-up visits and laboratory tests during treatment. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience fever, breathing difficulty, sudden weight gain, swelling, severe headache, or chest pain, as these may indicate Differentiation Syndrome. Store the capsules according to the manufacturer’s instructions and keep them out of reach of children.

Clinical Trial & Approvals

Tretinoin has been extensively studied in international clinical trials and is considered one of the greatest advances in the treatment of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Clinical studies have demonstrated high complete remission rates when Tretinoin is combined with arsenic trioxide or chemotherapy. Tretinoin is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the induction of remission in patients with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia and is recommended by international treatment guidelines including NCCN and the European LeukemiaNet (ELN).
