Indications and Usage
Decima 50 mg Injection is indicated for the treatment of patients with:

Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS)
-
Refractory anemia
-
Refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts
-
Refractory anemia with excess blasts
-
Refractory anemia with excess blasts in transformation
-
-
Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia (CMML)
-
Intermediate-2 and high-risk IPSS (International Prognostic Scoring System) groups
-
Previously treated and untreated, de novo and secondary MDS
Treatment should be initiated and supervised by an oncologist or hematologist
How it Works
Decitabine inhibits DNA methyltransferase, leading to DNA hypomethylation. This action restores normal control of cell growth and differentiation in abnormal bone marrow cells. In rapidly dividing cancer cells, it also causes cell death, while non-dividing cells are less affected
Dosage & Administration
Decima 50 mg Injection is administered intravenously by trained healthcare professionals only.
Two recommended regimens:
Regimen 1

15 mg/m² IV infusion over 3 hours
-
Every 8 hours for 3 days
-
Repeated every 6 weeks
Regimen 2
-
20 mg/m² IV infusion over 1 hour
-
Once daily for 5 days
-
Repeated every 4 weeks
-
Patients should receive at least 4 cycles
-
Dose adjustments may be required based on blood count recovery
-
Regular monitoring of CBC, platelets, liver and kidney function is mandatory

Warning and Precaution

Causes severe neutropenia and thrombocytopenia

High risk of infections – early use of antibiotics or growth factors may be required

Not recommended during pregnancy – may cause fetal harm

Women should avoid pregnancy during treatment and for 1 month after

Men should avoid fathering a child during treatment and for 2 months after

Use caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment
-
Not to be used in uncontrolled infections
-
Cytotoxic drug – proper handling and disposal required
