Description

Palnat 100 mg Capsule contains Palbociclib, a targeted oral anticancer medicine used in the treatment of hormone receptor–positive (HR+), HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer. It is a CDK4/6 inhibitor that helps slow the growth and spread of cancer cells. Palnat is usually prescribed in combination with hormone therapy and is taken under oncologist supervision.

Benefits

  • Slows tumor growth and delays cancer progression

  • Doubles progression-free survival compared to hormone therapy alone

  • Oral therapy with outpatient convenience

  • Improves treatment outcomes when combined with endocrine therapy

Indications and Usage

Palnat (Palbociclib) is indicated for:

  • HR-positive, HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer, in combination with:

    • Letrozole (first-line therapy in postmenopausal women)

    • Fulvestrant (in patients who have progressed after hormone therapy)

Treatment must be initiated and monitored by an oncologist with regular blood test follow-ups.

How it Works

Palbociclib blocks CDK4 and CDK6, proteins involved in cell cycle regulation. By inhibiting these proteins, it prevents cancer cells from multiplying, thus slowing tumor growth and disease progression in HR+/HER2– breast cancer.

Dosage & Administration

  • Typically taken once daily for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day break (28-day cycle)

  • Swallow the capsule whole with food

  • Do not crush, chew, or open the capsule

  • Continue combination hormone therapy as prescribed

  • Regular blood tests are required to monitor white cell counts and liver function

Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Low white blood cell count (neutropenia)

  • Fatigue

  • Nausea

  • Diarrhea

  • Hair thinning or loss

  • Mouth sores

  • Decreased appetite

Serious side effects (seek urgent care):

  • Severe infections due to low immunity

  • Fever with low white blood cells (febrile neutropenia)

  • Lung inflammation (rare)

  • Liver function disturbances

Warning and Precaution

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • May suppress immune system – avoid exposure to infections

  • Monitor for signs of lung inflammation, fatigue, or easy bruising

  • Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice

  • Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements
