Enzalutamide

Enzalutamide is an orally active, non-steroidal androgen receptor inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of advanced and metastatic prostate cancer. It is designed to target and block the androgen receptor signaling pathway, which plays a crucial role in the development and progression of prostate cancer.

Unlike traditional hormone therapies that reduce testosterone production, Enzalutamide acts directly at the receptor level by binding to androgen receptors on prostate cancer cells. This prevents the activation of these receptors by androgens like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), thereby inhibiting cancer cell growth, proliferation, and survival.

Enzalutamide is indicated for:

• Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)

• Non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC)

• Metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) (in combination with other therapies)

Its targeted mechanism and oral formulation make it a preferred option in the management of hormone-driven prostate cancers. Enzalutamide has demonstrated improved survival outcomes and delayed disease progression in clinical trials.
