How It Works (end-to-end import flow)
MedsMonk makes cross-border, personal-use access simple: pick your products, sort the prescription (if needed), get the proper permit, and receive your order, legally and transparently.
Two clear paths
A) Courier route – non-controlled items
Most prescription medicines, health supplements, medical devices, and cosmetics ship by express courier once your documents are in order.
B) Hand-carry route – controlled medicines
MedsMonk does not courier controlled/dangerous drugs. Where lawful, they require IC-1 clearance and must be hand-carried by the traveler. We guide you through that process.
Step 1 — Choose your products
- Browse Rx medicines, supplements (≤ 500 g total), devices (1 unit / 100-pack for maintenance items)..
- MedsMonk enforces personal-use limits automatically at checkout so you don’t over-order by mistake.
Tip: Unsure if an item is “controlled”? Add it to the cart, our checker flags it and shows the correct path (PUC vs IC-1).
Step 2 — Handle the prescription (if required)
- Have a prescription? Upload a clear photo/PDF (Global or Indian doctor).
- MedsMonk validates basic details and may verify the prescriber’s license.
- No prescription? Book a quick tele-consult with a licensed Indian physician.
- Issuing an e-Rx is at the doctor’s independent clinical discretion.
What we accept
- English Rx (or officially translated), with patient name, drug name/strength, dosage, quantity, date, and prescriber details.
- We store your prescription securely and display it in your My e-Rx Dashboard for future refills (within legal limits).
Step 3 — Compliance check & permit type
MedsMonk runs a behind-the-scenes check and labels your order:
- Non-controlled Rx by courier/post → likely PUC (Personal Use Clearance) may be needed.
- Controlled medicines → IC-1 + hand-carry route; courier checkout is blocked for these SKUs.
- Supplements/devices/cosmetics → usually no permit, just quantity caps.
You’ll see the required steps before you pay, no surprises.
Step 4 — Checkout & secure payment
- Pay in your preferred method; MedsMonk supports cards, wallets, UPI (where available), and multi-currency pricing with live FX.
- For items needing a permit, your order is placed on hold (reserved) while we help you complete documents.
Step 5 — Permits made easy
Route A: Courier (non-controlled)
- PUC (if required): MedsMonk provides the checklist and prefilled details you need to submit to the authority.
- Upload the PUC approval in your account (or reply to our email/WhatsApp). We’ll auto-resume your order.
Route B: Hand-carry (controlled)
- IC-1: MedsMonk shares step-by-step guidance and document templates.
- Once IC-1 is issued, you carry the medicine personally when you travel. We do not courier controlled items.
Note: Authorities issue approvals; timelines vary. We keep you updated and nudge you if anything is pending.
Step 6 — Packing & dispatch (or traveler prep)
Route A: Courier
- MedsMonk prepares a commercial invoice, packing list, batch/expiry details, and ships via reliable express partners.
- You’ll receive a tracking number and live updates (email/WhatsApp/Messenger).
Route B: Hand-carry
- We provide a traveler packet, including a prescription copy, invoice, packing list, and IC-1 details, to present at immigration/customs.
Step 7 — Customs & delivery (what to expect)
- Importer of Record: You’re responsible for duties, taxes, storage, and permit presentation where applicable.
- Keep your Rx/permit handy; customs may ask for it.
- For courier shipments, once cleared, your parcel is delivered to your address with real-time tracking.
Step 8 — Aftercare, refills & retention
- MedsMonk sends gentle refill reminders based on your regimen.
- Enable subscriptions for maintenance meds/supplements where allowed.
- Earn and redeem loyalty points on every purchase.

- Valid prescription (PH or India); for non-controlled courier shipments, FDA Global Personal Use Clearance (PUC) may be needed.
Controlled medicines (hand-carry)
- Valid prescription and IC-1. We’ll guide you; we do not courier these items.
Typical timelines (guidance, not guarantees)
- Order processing: 1–3 business days (stock + checks).
- Permit assistance: 1–5 business days (depends on authority and completeness).
- Courier transit: X–Y business days to the Global after dispatch.
- Hand-carry: depends on your travel date and IC-1 issuance.
What MedsMonk does, and doesn’t, do
We do:
- Enforce personal-use limits at checkout.
- Help you identify the right permit path (PUC vs IC-1).
- Provide documents that are customs-ready.
- Offer tele-consults and Rx upload with secure storage.
We don’t:
- Courier-controlled/dangerous drugs.
- Guarantee government approvals or exact delivery dates (no one can).
- Support resale or commercial import.
