How it Works

Piroxicam works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins—chemicals in the body that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation. By blocking prostaglandin synthesis, Pirox reduces pain signals and inflammation at the site of injury or disease.

Dosage & Administration

• Typical adult dose: 20 mg once daily, with or after food to minimize gastric irritation.
• Take the capsule whole with a glass of water—do not crush or chew.
• The dose and duration depend on the severity of symptoms and your doctor’s evaluation. Do not exceed the prescribed amount or duration.

Side Effects

Serious (less common):
